Guardian Senior Care was founded in the memory of Glynn "Hoot" and Jackie Gibson of McKinney,
formerly of Princeton, Texas and it was also founded in the memory of two McKinney physicians.
Glynn "Hoot" Gibson (known as the "Phone Man" in the McKinney, Princeton, and Farmersville area), was
employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and began in the Dallas, Texas office December 1949.
Years later he transferred to the McKinney office in 1978 after moving to Princeton. He retired
from Southwestern Bell in 1984 and started his own telephone business in McKinney in 1985. He was also devoted
to the youth and adults of the Garland Girls Softball Association and served as Softball
Commissioner, along with being a coach until the late 1980's. Glynn was also supportive of the RSVP of
McKinney program and meeting the needs of the elderly, and the McKinney Chamber of Commerce. Glynn
passed away December 14, 2002.
Jackie was the Recruiter Coordinator and later served as the Director of the Retired Senior Volunteer
program (RSVP) for the City of McKinney, Texas chapter, served on the Community Education Advisory Board
for the City of McKinney, worked with the Pink Lady Volunteers at North Central Medical Center, worked with
the American Red Cross, McKinney branch, along with other non-profit organizations from the mid 80's until the
early 90's. Jackie passed away January 5, 2002.
Glynn and Jackie's dedication to volunteer their time and give of themselves to the young and
the elderly of McKinney and the surrounding areas has been an inspiration. The Senior's of McKinney
were a major part of Jackie's life and it gave her great joy to serve them.
During Glynn's battle with cancer, Amanullah Khan, M.D., and staff of Cancer Center Associates - Rena Tarbet
Cancer Center - gave excellent care and showed great compassion to not only Glynn, but to his family.
The other physician who provided excellent care and his staff showed great compassion as well. The city
of McKinney is fortunate to have such excellent physicians.
It is the opinion of this organization that both physicians' are considered to be the best in their field and
the care that both physicians' have shown forever changed the lives of so many people. And have inspired this
organization of the tremendous need to "fill in the gap" between physician and Senior (Medicare) patients. In addition,
the physician's who treated Jackie during her battle with diabetes and declining health which placed
her in a nursing home, too have been an inspiration.
